I'll be live on FutureIQ's Video Channel on 6 Dec 7pm
Live AMA on FutureIQ's YouTube Channel to celebrate the 100th episode
Quick summary: On Friday 6 December at 7pm (IST), I’ll be doing a live YouTube telecast about FutureIQ where Shrikant and I will answer audience questions about the FutureIQ YouTube channel, this blog, ourselves, and anything else that people are curious about. It would be great if you could join the livecast and ask questions.
Background
In March last year, I launched the FutureIQ YouTube Channel with Shrikant and Videoschool. This week marks the publication of our 100th episode, and the journey up to this point has been very interesting as we have slowly managed to get 42k+ subscribers. To celebrate we are doing this live show and will spend about an hour answering questions that we get asked frequently and also questions from the live audience.
Why Wasn’t the YouTube Channel Formally Launched?
You might have noticed that some of the recent articles I posted here had a YouTube and Spotify link and that those were from the FutureIQ YouTube channel. However, many people are not aware of the channel, because I never explicitly announced the launch of the channel. There’s a good reason for this: Annkur cautioned me that I should not announce the launch of the channel to friends and family in the early days because of the following problem: People would click on the link just to see what I am up to, watch maybe a minute or two of the video, and then leave, having satisfied their curiosity. But this would cause YouTube’s algorithm to think that the video is bad because so many people are leaving after having watched just a minute or two. This is likely to be true of even a substantial portion of the readers of this newsletter—you started following a text newsletter and there’s no guarantee that you’d be interested in video. So the suggestion was to let the YouTube channel find its own audience organically.
Now that there is a reasonable-sized following for the channel, I can formally announce it to my friends and family and all of you. If you are a regular video consumer, please check it out—I am far more regular there (one regular-length video and two shorts every week). Especially now that we have done 100 episodes we know we will continue this for a while: it has survived past the infant mortality stage of new projects.
What to Expect?
Just to get you interested, here are some of the questions that we’ll probably take up:
Why are the posts on the YouTube channel so much more consistent than on this newsletter?
How much and what kind of preparation does it require to make one video? Where do I get the topics from and how do I research them?
Our favourite concepts from those discussed on the show so far
Why am I doing this?
